Marion Elmes
As a life-long artist, my first serious art was drawing horses in my exercise books at the back of maths classes, followed by four years at art colleges – Stourbridge and Winchester in the 1960s. Followed by :
Freelance Watercolourist in Pembrokeshire, Illustrator for Arab magazine in Doha, Qatar, Watercolour tutor for Adult Education classes, Gloscat, Cheltenham
Paintings exhibited in Qatar National Museum, Royal West of England Academy, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, The Mall Galleries, Westward Ho! and Bideford Art Society, many galleries nationwide, most Ilfracombe Art Trails, the first North Devon Arts Trail in 2001, Nine Days of Art, the Queen’s and Landmark Theatres and the Plough Arts Theatre in Great Torrington.
My paintings are held in private collections, worldwide.
Moved to Ilfracombe in 2000 and studied Abstract Expressionist painting with Patrick Jones, followed by four years with the North Devon Poets, grappling with words.
Now I’m just having fun putting it all together to create playful, semi-abstract, words and music-infused, mixed media paintings.
Also featured and on display in the garden will be your Art! Come see the wonderful public artwork many of you helped create two years ago during Ilfracombe Art Trail 2024!
