Walter Elliott
Walter was the founder of the Ilfracombe Art Society, he owned the Elliott Art gallery in Braunton for many years. He created the largest pastel triptych in the world (when it was made), he was at a time the president of the Pastel Society, had his paintings displayed in esteemed galleries such as the Mall in London and Salon de Nations in Paris, and since his passing in 2018, his collection now remains in storage with one of his grandchildren.
It has been incredibly hard to find a venue that will have his paintings on permanent display, so it has been my mission to get them seen and appreciated as often as possible. The Art Trail being a much appreciated and regular fixture in our annual calendar.
Please come on down to the Landmark Theatre to peruse some fantastic Pastel art work that needs to be seen to be appreciated. There will be an array of portraits, triptychs, abstracts, and landscapes. Some small, but many are very large.
He was a very interesting man so please feel free to come for a chat and ask about his life’s work. Many thanks. James Sanders-Elliott.
