Seascape paintings
My creativity as an artist comes from the outstanding natural beauty and wildness of the North Devon coast. This provided the inspiration for my first seascape, painted whilst living in Wisconsin, America. It was here that my passion for painting began, encouraged by a wonderful teacher and a talented group of professional female artists from whom I learnt so much.
When I came back to the UK in 2007, I decided to focus on becoming a professional artist rather than return to my career as a magazine journalist in London.
In 2010 I finally moved permanently to North Devon and have been painting and exhibiting here ever since.
In 2015 I returned briefly to the USA when I was invited to exhibit at the Agora Gallery, New York.
Recently, I have enjoyed working on a series of commissions. I love the challenge of finding the soul of a particular sea or landscape. It is a privilege being asked to capture a personal connection to a specific place.
My incentive in all my work is to try and capture a feeling or attachment with the vastness of sea and sky, in the hope that others may make that same connection.
