I taught myself painting from an early age by copying the old masters.

I’ve always admired the work of artists such as Rembrandt, Picasso, Sargent, Zorn and Sorolla. Their influence is still with me today. Their work is based on the visible world and I think that’s what excites me the most.

I’ve worked from observation most of my life, from the life drawing room to private sitters to sketching on the beach. Drawing from life has an edge to it that challenges me and keeps me sharp.

After several jobs working as a prop maker for Yorkshire TV and Harrods, I eventually taught Fine Art at a North Devon Collage.

I dedicated myself to being a full time artist in 2010.

I do demonstrations and workshops with individuals or art groups, take commissions and exhibit in local galleries.
