Art has always been my passion. From taking my sketchbook everywhere with me as a child, to working hard at it in my GCSE’s. My father, Mick Cawston, was a successful local artist who continues to be my inspiration. I went on to study art at Petroc college and left with a triple distinction level 3 diploma. I was beginning to establish myself in my local town as a self-employed artist. I take commissions as well as creating my own work everyday, I’m very lucky to have a supportive family and the opportunity to do what I love as a career. I am now nineteen and my work is displayed in the local Fleek Gallery, this opportunity has helped my career grow and my confidence to grow with it. I occasionally have a small market stall in Barnstaple pannier market doing ‘while you wait’ portraits. I worked in chalk and charcoal, I also use oil paints and pencil. This is my second year in the art trail, my style of work is always evolving and I’m proud to be sharing this growth with the local people of Ilfracombe.
