Kira Bartlett
Acrylics & oils
Hi my name is Kira and I am a 26 year old Autistic artist living and painting in Ilfracombe. In 2020 I graduated university with a degree in illustration. I have always wanted to paint professionally since I was small, nothing has made me happier than when I have a paint brush in my hand. However, it wasn’t until I began university in 2017 that I found what I really wanted to paint, it was through that experience I discovered realism and have been in love ever since.
My first experience with realism was painting the portrait of my university head masters dog. Being able to convey a life to canvas and give it a soul and character that a person can recognise is still today the most satisfying and gratifying experience one can get. Over time I have been practicing my skills painting many animal portraits of various kinds be it pet or wild animals and now I am branching out and exploring painting realistic land and seascapes, trying to bring them to life in a way that people can see and feel it as if they was there.
I attempt to do this using an acrylic base and then finish with my favourite material, oil paints, which have a way of livening up a painting that I just cant get enough of. I still hope to better myself with each painting, always hungering for more and look forward to producing more paintings that the world can enjoy.
