Seaglass & jewellery
Jewellery artist/ hand crafted jewellery.
I first started designing and making jewellery when we lived in Australia.
I was drawn to collecting shells and drift wood from the beaches in Queensland and seeing how I could make jewellery from them. I became interested in the hand-crafted scene and the various ways jewellery could be made, incorporating wire, gem stones and natural materials.
When we moved back to North Devon in 2018, I started to find beautiful frosted pieces of sea glass on the local beaches, so I started to craft again, this time with sea glass;
Sea glass is made from discarded glass that has been tumbling around in the ocean, gradually breaking down, it can take from 20 to 50+ years for a piece of sea glass to achieve its frosted appearance and charaterstic shape that comes from a mix of the waves, rocks, sunlight and salt water. It’s beautiful colour and shape can also have a wonderful tactile feel to it.
My inspiration for my crafts has always been from using natural materials and earthy tones with a mix of wire work and gem stones for a beachy ocean feel.
