Painting

Over many years working as an artist in printmaking, photography and installation, painting has always surfaced one way or another throughout as my love and so I am at my happiest.

My work explores landscape through ‘collecting’ mental prompts, written notes and a heavy reliance on memory which acts as a sort of distillation about that sense of place I’ve experienced drawing on something unique to me at that time. I aim to capture the physical and internalised feeling of a landscape and the immediacy of rough sketches provide an essential map for a painting.

I work from my own studio on the edge of Exmoor and the continual change and flux of that landscape provides a constant source of light, shadow, weather throughout the expanse of an everchanging sky and land.
