Gill Rogers

I am a textile artist whose work weaves together the fluidity of water colour with the texture and rhythm of machine stich, hand embroidery and other materials. My studio in my 18th century cottage in Berrynarbor is my sanctuary and creative space!

My pieces explore the meeting point between paint and thread – where colour washes blend into lines of stich and delicate marks become part of a large tactile piece. Inspired by the subtle details of the natural world and the quiet stories found in every day moments, my work celebrates both spontaneity and precision. Using my needle to draw with fabric and linen, each piece is built slowly layer by layer, creating individual stitched work capturing the natural scenery and flora I see around me.

My work is always on display at Fortythree Shop, 37 Fore St, Ilfracombe as part of a wider collective of local artisans and also Marwood Hill Gardens and Annie and the Flint Cafe, High St, Ilfracombe.
