Fiona Bates Ceramics
Fiona has lived in Ilfracombe for 15 years. The majority of her work is hand built from pure white clays. Folk tales, sea shanties, fairy tales or found chance objects are often the starting point for new pieces as well as drawings and photographs of the dramatic North Devon coast and its boats and buildings.
Alongside her most popular pieces which are on display in galleries throughout the UK and feature on her website, she also makes bespoke pieces each year for the Ilfracombe Art Trail which include fireplaces, galleons, the mad hatter’s tea party complete with ceramic cakes, sandwiches and iced gems and more sculptural pieces including a Cinderella carriage pulled by raku fired rats and the bust of Queen Elizabeth the first.
Please come and see this year’s new pieces and grab a cuppa.
