Chris has been quilting since retiring from teaching nearly five years ago. She attends a weekly quilting class and is hopelessly hooked on producing quilts, play mats, bags, wall art and other items quilting related.
Chris is inspired by what she sees in books, magazines, internet, by friends at class and also by people who have commissioned her to produce a particular piece. She then carefully selects colours, fabric and design to create the finished piece.
Chris uses a variety of quilting techniques depending on purpose and what she wants the finished piece to look like. These include foundation piecing, trapunto and free motion quilting.
This is Chris’s second Art Trail. She was so delighted by the response to her work last year that she joined the Ilfracombe Artisan shop “FortyThree” which is where her work can be seen and purchased.
