Recycled ocean plastic with purpose

Ecotribo is a couple-run creative practice led by artists Tyrone and Carrie. Tyrone is a designer and art director, while Carrie’s background in film and television brings a strong narrative, production and storytelling sensibility to the studio.

Ecotribo operates as a sustainable design studio and micro-manufacturer, transforming recovered ocean plastic into purposeful, beautifully crafted products.

Originally from Durban, South Africa, Tyrone has been a surfer since childhood, developing a deep connection to the ocean that continues to shape his creative and environmental ethos. His career spans award-winning global brand and marketing campaigns across technology, finance and consumer sectors.

Born from Tyrone’s early involvement with grassroots beach clean-ups in Southeast Asia, Ecotribo now collaborates with coastal charities and clean-up crews across the UK. Ocean waste is processed locally in solar-powered microfactories and reimagined into durable, functional products.

Together, Tyrone and Carrie blend design, storytelling and circular manufacturing to challenge perceptions of waste and demonstrate that responsible design can be both commercially viable and culturally meaningful.
