THE ILFRACOMBE ART PHENOMENON

The beautiful town of Ilfracombe once again offers you a warm welcome to our open house art event.
Artists and crafts people open their homes, studios and galleries for you to view and purchase a varied collection of arts and crafts.

WHAT IS THE ART TRAIL?

The Ilfracombe Art Trail is an independent collaboration of artists, makers and galleries all located in Ilfracombe, mostly within a 20 minute walk of the High Street. We’ve even got a couple of venues well worth visiting a short drive away in Berrynarbor, Ilfracombe.

Having had to stop for two years during the pandemic, we were very pleased to be back last year and are so excited to be inviting you to celebrate with us at our 8th Annual Art Trail, which is the biggest one to date!

Our Art Trail provides an opportunity to visit venues of your choosing, talk to artists and discover all things new and surprising!
We aim to actively promote and advertise locally, regionally and, where possible, nationally. We seek editorial coverage through newspapers, magazines and radio as well as online and social media. As well as this, much depends on participants promoting their own venues.

The Art Trail is a non-profit organisation, predominantly paid for by participation fees. It is administered by a small team of volunteer members.

MAKING ART ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

2024 sees the 8th Annual Ilfracombe Art Trail

Showing a diverse and interesting array of affordable art from local artists in a number of different venues and galleries all around Ilfracombe.

There are paintings, sculpture, photography, jewellery, printing, textiles, leather, ceramics and much more. With our easy to follow map and guide you can discover art in some quirky places, most within just a short walk of the High Street.
Come and enjoy the work of local artists as well as some from further afield. Wander through our Victorian streets and contemplate the wide range of art on offer. You can even pause at some of the venues for tea and cake or visit one of the amazing artisan cafes around the town.

WHAT IS AN OPEN STUDIO?

An open studio is a place where art is the focus, offering visitors the opportunity to speak directly with the artist or just ponder and admire the works on show.

For an artist, it is the pleasure of talking with visitors and hopefully making valuable connections.

There is also, of course, the opportunity to purchase work and obtain information about artists’ events or courses, if they have them to offer.
