Painting has been a lifelong passion for me. My subjects range from landscape, still life to portraits. There is no subject that does not hold interest for me and that I have not sketched, painted or sculpted. Living now in North Devon there is such beautiful and evocative scenery to represent. Portraiture is an area which I have developed and have taken some commissions. I am always attempting to capture the essence of the sitter rather than just a photographic likeness.
Over the years I have had exhibitions in Bexhill Sussex and more recently in Armidale (NSW) with a series of large paintings from my travels to the interior of South Australia and have also exhibited in galleries. I have studied art both fine and art history here (University of London) and in Australia (Open University) and my interest finds me attending galleries and exhibitions wherever and whenever I can.
I love oil as a medium but also the flexibility and speed of acrylics. I also love trying new mediums such as inkintense, water colour markers and creating mixed media pieces. I make plaster relief pieces (clay/plaster mould) and oven baked clay tiles for decorative or house names (interior).
As well as producing works I love to find original work and buy it when I can afford to. There is something very special about having something which another person has created as a unique piece.
I am very happy to be part of the Art Trail in Ilfracombe and also welcome enquiries and visits by anyone interested in seeing more of my work.
