Colour pencil drawings

My recent artistic ventures have led me to examine pets, animals and local wildlife in particular. I have taken commissions for numerous dogs, cats and horses, but as well as this have been building a body of work comprising of Lundy Puffins, Exmoor deer and the feral goats of The Valley of the Rocks amongst others. I work in colour pencil and aim to be as precise and intricate as possible in portraying each animal in an intimate, but simple composition.

I am a local secondary school art teacher and mother of two young children, which heavily influenced my decision to invest in a set of quality pencils. Colour pencil enables me the freedom to stop and start working with as little fuss or consequence as possible. Pencil also suits my endeavour to portray a photo-realistic finish with dedicated attention to individual hairs, feathers, lighting and colour blending.

I am also a keen illustrator and have developed a fascination with typography and artwork for children in particular. I love designing personalised name plaques and themed alphabets and have written my own children’s story, which I am in the process of illustrating.
