Ian Hudson

Fine art paintings, watercolour

Born and educated in Taunton, Ian was always artistic but never encouraged to develop this ability in school. Consequently, it was much later in life that he became a professional artist. Living in a remote part of Exmoor, his main subject was the beautiful landscape and its wildlife.

Later, as a result of moving to a small cottage beside the sea, in Appledore, he  established himself as a prominent marine artist specialising in the working sail of the Taw/Torridge estuary.

He now lives in  Ilfracombe and in addition to painting,  teaches watercolours at various venues in the locality, including the North Devon Yacht Club, Instow, and at the Manor Hall, Berrynarbor. He is also in demand by local Art groups as an occasional guest tutor.

He exhibits regularly at several venues, including the North Devon Yacht Club in October, (a fund-raiser for the R.N.L.I.), and at the Burton Art Gallery, as a member of the Westward Ho! & Bideford Art Society, in their summer exhibition.

A selection of Ian’s work is also on view at Gallery 39, in Bear Street, Barnstaple.
