Painting, textiles, jewellery
I was born in Hemel Hempstead Hertfordshire and attended a local comprehensive school where art became an important part of my learning and development. From an early age, I was influenced by my Grandmother, herself a seamstress and an artist and my love of the arts and crafts grew from spending time with her.
At the age of 15, I was fortunate to gain a place at Watford school of Art, where I learnt a variety of techniques and worked in different mediums, sculpture, textiles, printing, life drawing and painting. This led to me working as a ‘Silver smith’s Assistant’ in Hatton Garden, London.
Shortly after this I married and in the consequent years had four children, so life became busy and my priorities changed and had little time to continue any art, albeit through my children’s interest.
Now my children have reached adulthood and no longer live at home, I now have the time to immerse myself once again in something that I love, painting and being creative.
Having moved to the North Coast of Devon 6 years ago, my work is heavily influenced by long walks along the North Devon coast and countryside.
I love to collect ‘treasures’ from the beaches which I use in my art work, whether that be in Driftwood sculptures, Sea-glass jewellery or painted canvasses, expressing my emotions from the beautiful environment that I live in.
Some of my work can be seen and purchased at the Dolphin Inn Restaurant, Combe Martin, Devon.
